Children’s Ministry Resources
This page serves as a landing spot for children’s ministry volunteers and parents. Below you will find resources and links for the children’s ministry of Redeemer Baptist Church. Our goal is to reinforce what Christian parents are teaching in the home; all parents are welcome to use these resources and participate in the meetings for teacher training and prayer.
Class Structure
We seek to use our classroom time as a beautiful hour with direct access to God’s Word and opportunities to learn and worship through:
1) Singing great hymns of the faith in order to learn rich and comforting doctrine by heart.
2) Learning and reciting longer passages of scripture such as entire Psalms or Jesus’ parables.
3) Praying. We take our requests for ourselves and others to God and enjoy fellowship with Him. We thank God for His blessings and His attributes. We ask for His help in class and rehearse the good news of the gospel. Through prayer we demonstrate our trust in Him and that we know He hears us and will help us.
4) Hearing the Bible read directly and responding to what we hear through telling back, drawing, and creating a timeline.
5) Looking at great works of art, such as works by Rembrandt, that correspond to the Bible passage read, aiding in memory of the passage and deeper reflection.
6) Using our hands to learn a new skill that can serve and bless others such as clay sculpture, painting, calligraphy, loom weaving, and macrame. We also use this time for our card ministry.
7) Being challenged and encouraged in our faith during a literary enrichment time of hearing a missionary biography or Christian classic such as Pilgrim’s Progress.

Theology ABCs: A brief time to introduce definitions of major doctrinal terms with flashcards. This year we are focusing on God’s names.
Prayer: In addition to student requests, we will pray for groups around the world using the children’s book Praying Through Operation World and the IMB prayer guides.
Bible Readings: The Bible text is read directly and each student has an opportunity to respond to what they heard by telling back. This year we will cover passages from Genesis and John.
Fine Art Picture Studies: Studying works of art that correspond to the Bible passages read in class. This aids in reinforcement, reflection, and memory of the passage. Each student has an opportunity to respond to what they see.
Craft Service Project and Card Ministry: Students use their hands for meaningful and beautiful work that encourages members of the church or that blesses neighbors and family. This year, in addition to cards, we will focus on soap and soapstone carving, weaving, watercolor brush drawing, macrame, and creating prayer journals.
Literary Enrichment: We use the end of class to read aloud from Christian classics or biographies. We have read a children’s Pilgrim’s Progress as well as the biographies of Rebekah Naylor, Lottie Moon, George Muller, Cameron Townsend, and Gladys Aylward. This year we will read the biographies of Bill Wallace and Brother Andrew.
Further Enrichment Activities: We will make a classroom timeline and participate in drawing or acting out Bible scenes.
